Our Community Culture
Culture of Worship
We value worship that is participative, that is full of life, which engages us in intimacy and uses various forms appropriate to the experiential depth and breadth of God. We believe worship is far more than singing songs; true worship is about our life direction expressed in many different ways. We are hungry to know God’s presence, hear His voice and follow hard after Him. (Psalm 63:1-3; Romans 12:1-2) Culture of Honour Honouring a person means treating them according to God's idea of their value. In a world were negativity indicates intelligence, we want to live in the true wisdom of honour. Ignoring the temporary truth of people's weaknesses and instead fixing our gaze on their God given identity.(1 Timothy 5:17; 1 Peter 2:17) Culture of Accountable Friendships We believe it is God’s intention to bring us into a family that actively helps each other along the way of following Jesus. We would like every person to find a small circle of trusting friendships in which they are encouraged and challenged toward seeing Jesus formed in and through their lives. (Romans 15:14; Hebrews 3:13; James 5:16) Culture of Spiritual Development Learning from some of the ancient strands of the christian faith. We want to cultivate an interior life that, through habitual practice, can sustain and support the kind of radical life Jesus invites us into. Discipleship is about us taking seriously the call of Jesus to follow hard after him. Culture of pro-activeness We want to be partakers and not just spectators, which we hope will result in us taking lots of risks and cultivating a culture of participation - the priesthood of all. We believe it’s okay to fail, even as we believe it’s important to evaluate quality and effectiveness in all we do. (1 Peter 2:9; Galatians 3:28) Culture of excellency We seek to make sure that all that we do, from the way we communicate, to our publications, to the environment in which we meet, is all done to best of our ability - we seek to offer our best to God at all times. (Matthew 26: |
Culture of community Belonging
We believe that Christian community is not so much a “bounded set” (clear boundary markers determining who’s “in” and who’s “out”) as it is a “centered set”—many people at various stages in relation to the Kingdom, to the rule of God in their life. Therefore we value our church being overtly inclusive, that celebrates everyone from the “fully committed” to seekers merely exploring the Way of Jesus. Culture of kingdom stuateship
To live generosity is an outworking of our faith in the unchanging nature of a generous and giving God. He has provided us with everything need, therefore we are to be generous with all that has been given to us, as a direct response to who He is. (Ephesians 2:4-5; Psalm 24:1; 1 Timothy 6:17-19) A Culture of Servant Leadership Jesus modelled leadership as a servant, we want to do the same by releasing men and women equally through training that attracts, develops, trains and releases leaders to serve alongside, and not rule over each other, in order to bring out the best in each other. (Mark 10:37,44-45) Culture of the Priesthood of all Believers We uphold the teaching that among us there are those who are called to lead and administer gods work ,however we are all called to serve as a royal priesthood through christ 1 Peter 2:5-9,Romans 12:1-2 Contemporary Culture We understanding that the world is constantly evolving. We aim to remain current to our world and remain relevant in all that we do in our service, worship and conduct Kingdom Culture We understand the kingdom as being both present and future, and that the kingdom - the rule of God - is central to our understanding of the gospel and the teachings of Jesus. We aim to move in the signs of the present fulfilment of the kingdom, ministering through the Holy Spirit’s gifts, and seeing God heal and work wonders as a result. (Mark 1:14-15) |
